Overview

 Engr. Dr. Muhammad Shahzad is a foreign-qualified PhD degree holder and accomplished academician.  Currently, he is serving as Assistant Professor with Department of Electrical Engineering and Head of Computer Science Department with a strong multidisciplinary background in Artificial Intelligence application in Electrical Engineering, smart energy systems, and computing technologies. He earned his PhD in Electrical Power Systems and Automation from North China Electric Power University, Beijing, China, under a prestigious international scholarship, gaining valuable global research exposure and collaboration experience. He has published more than 50 research articles in reputable international journals, conferences, book chapter and supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has also held several academic leadership roles and is committed to strengthening research, innovation, and quality computing education aligned with modern technological and industry needs. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has held several leadership positions including Head of Department, Director of Student Affairs, Postgraduate Coordinator, serving as reviewer for high impact factor journals, national and international invited Speaker, multiple committee convener, and member of statutory academic bodies. His current role as Head of Computer Science Department reflects his interdisciplinary expertise and leadership in advancing computing education aligned with emerging technologies.

His research interests span artificial intelligence applications in power systems, renewable energy integration, smart grids, uncertainty modeling, probabilistic load flow analysis, electric vehicle integration, IoT-enabled energy systems, and sustainable computing solutions. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students and played a key role in establishing advanced laboratories and launching postgraduate programs (MS and PhD) in Department of Electrical Engineering. He launched various undergraduate programs in department of Computer Science. He is also involved in academic accreditation (PEC, NTC, and NCEAC at level II), quality enhancement, and curriculum design aligned with national (HEC, NCRC, NCEAC, and PEC) and international standards. His contributions include serving as reviewer for high-impact journals, invited speaker at conferences (National and International), and evaluator for academic programs.
