Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC)

To maintain and enhance the quality of higher education is the primary objective of each university. To achieve this objective, a mechanism of establishment of QECs has been developed by the Quality Assurance Agency, Higher Education Commission (HEC) to improve the standards of quality of higher education in a systematic way with uniformity across country. Quality Enhancement Cell at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology, Multan was established in March 2016. QEC is fully functional to carry out the activities as per instructions by the QAA.

Quality is an inherent and distinguished characteristic through which an institution can guarantee the maintenance and enhancement of its education. Quality is an ongoing process of building and sustaining relationships by assessing, anticipating, and implied needs. Educational standards are Enhanced and maintained through quality of education.

QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation that quality of provision and standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development together with research and other scholarly activities.

Maintaining and developing a workable and sustainable mechanism of Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Pakistan to meet the rising challenges of transforming the country into a knowledge based economy.

Mission Statement

 

QEC is obligated to enhance the standard of education in each department in the fulfillment of requirement and satisfaction of its students and their potential employers. QEC shall be encouraged by provision of training, guidance and resources to follow the path by self assessment and continuous improvement.

Functions of QEC

In order to ensure the effective implementation of functions prescribed by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the structure and operations of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at MNS University of Engineering and Technology have been progressively developed since 2016. The QEC consists of three primary divisions:

HEC Defined Responsibilities

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance practices in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan.

  1. Implementation of QA Framework


Ensure effective implementation of HEC’s Quality Assurance (QA) policies, criteria, and guidelines within the institution.

 

  1. Self-Assessment of Academic Programs


Coordinate and monitor preparation of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) for all academic programs.

 

  1. External Peer Review


Facilitate external evaluations of academic programs and ensure follow-up on recommendations.

 

  1. Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE)


Conduct periodic Institutional Performance Evaluations as per HEC requirements.

 

  1. Program Accreditation Support


Assist departments in meeting standards of relevant accreditation bodies and ensure compliance.

 

  1. Feedback Mechanism

 

Collect, manage, and analyze feedback from all stakeholders—including students, faculty, alumni, and employers—ensuring confidentiality and its effective utilization for continuous quality improvement.

 

  1. Data Collection & Reporting


Maintain accurate academic data and submit required reports to HEC and relevant authorities.

 

  1. Capacity Building


Organize training sessions, workshops, and seminars on quality assurance for faculty and staff.

 

  1. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)


Promote a culture of continuous improvement based on feedback, assessment results, and best practices.

 

  1. Liaison with HEC


Act as a focal point for coordination with HEC Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
